Getting Started with Carving

In this four session course, you will learn how to carve wood by hand safely and effectively. Carving starts with understanding the structure and properties of wood including its grain, workability, and growth patterns. Then you will work with a variety of carving tools and learn how to sharpen and maintain them. Start with a spoon and progress to a project of your choice (fitting the remainder of workshop time frame) to gain the skills and confidence to design and execute your own carving project.
All tools and materials are included.
Level: Beginner - No prerequisite for this class

Price: $400 plus $75 material/equipment fee
