Class Policy
Registration & Tuition
COVID vaccination is not required but strongly encouraged.
Course enrollments are limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment is due at time of registration. You will be contacted only for changes in scheduling, cancellations, or if the class is full. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, checks, money orders, or cash. There is a $20 fee for returned checks.
Please register early, as some classes fill quickly and others may be cancelled if enrollment is too low. In the event a course does not receive sufficient enrollment, it may be cancelled. Students will be notified at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class if it is cancelled and students will not be charged.
Cancellations
To withdraw from a class, please notify us in writing at hello@makeville.com.
If you withdraw more than ten days before a class begins, we will refund 100% of tuition paid less a 5% processing fee. Alternatively you can receive 100% refund in Makeville store credit which can be applied to a future class.
If you withdraw less than ten days before your class begins, we cannot offer any option for refund/credit unless someone takes your vacated spot.
We are unable to refund tuition for classes students miss due to their own circumstances.
We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any class, in which case you may choose to receive a refund, register for an alternate course or receive tuition credit.
Missed classes / Lateness
COVID19 - If you are having COVID symptoms or are concerned about a possible COVID exposure, notify your instructor and hello@makeville.com, stay home and get tested. If you test negative, you can schedule a make-up session (see below) to continue with the class. If you test positive, unfortunately we cannot offer any options for credit, transfer or refunds.
Missing the first day of a course may result in a non-refundable withdrawal. Please email hello@makeville.com if you know you are going to miss the first day of a course. Complimentary makeup sessions outside class time or in concurrent or future course sections are not available. See section on Make-up classes below.
Please be on time: Instructors are not obligated to catch students up during scheduled class time for missed sessions or excessive lateness.
Make-up classes
Make-up sessions may be arranged by appointment with the instructor, subject to the instructor's availability. Make-up sessions must be completed before the next scheduled class date, so reach out to your instructor asap if you have to miss a class.
Fees for make-up sessions are billed at the instructor's private teaching rate (ranges from $55/hr to $65/hr), payable directly to the instructor.
Physical and Mental Readiness
Stress, anxiety, sleep deprivation, low blood sugar, dehydration, and drug use (prescription, over the counter, or recreational) can interfere with your ability to work safely and effectively. It is your responsibility to remain alert and attentive in class. We enforce a ZERO-tolerance drug and alcohol policy in the interest of the safety of all shop users and reserve the right to remove non-compliant students from class without refund or transfer.
Holidays
We close in observance of New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Memorieal Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Most classes are also suspended New Years Eve, the day before Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve. Certain classes also skip other holidays; these are noted in individual class listings or determined by special arrangement between instructors and students.
Children & Teens
Parents or guardians must thoroughly complete registration forms, including full contact and emergency contact information.
Teens age 15 and up may register for adult classes.
Materials & Supplies
Students are responsible for providing their own supplies and materials unless otherwise noted. Students are welcome to bring their own tools, but Makeville Studio is not responsible for their loss or damage. No tools or supplies belonging to Makeville Studio may be removed from the building.
Class Project Storage
Instructors will show students where their projects may be stored. Our limited storage space is restricted to currently enrolled students, and to one project at a time. Projects and materials must be clearly labeled with the student’s name and class session. All property must be removed at the end of the last class unless the student receives permission from Makeville Studio or purchases studio time and storage with the intent to complete their project. Property left without permission after a course ends may be disposed of by staff. Makeville Studio is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
Safety First!
Our instructors teach proper safety procedures to all students. Students who fail to follow this advice will be guided to the correct approach to protect themselves and others. It has not happened yet, but we reserve the right to ask a student to leave if proper safety procedures are not observed.
Studio Use Policy

You must be 18 or older to rent time in the community shop.
Cancellations & Refunds
You can cancel or reschedule a studio time booking up to 8 hours in advance of the reservation time using the online booking system. Cancellations will be refunded fully in the form of booking system credit so you can reschedule at your convenience.
Fees paid for cancellations within 8 hrs of the booked start time will be forfeit.
Makeville Studio reserves the right to cancel studio time reservations. You will be given 12 hrs notice in this case and receive full credit (either to your credit card or as booking system credit).
