This five-session class covers both spindle and faceplate styles of turning wood on the lathe. You’ll learn lathe setup. safety and operation as well as how to select, use and sharpen a variety of carving tools.

The project for this class is a small three-leg stool with through-tenons that are wedged into a round seat—all parts made on the lathe. The goal of this course is to build a foundation of skills and knowledge so you can work independently on the lathe and start to incorporate turned parts into your furniture projects. All tools, materials and safety equipment are provided.
